Flashing Hourglass in Word 2002

I get a contstant repagination ~ and flashing hourglass
every 3-5 sec in Word XP / XP Pro SP1. This occurs even
on new docs. Turning off repagination or autosave does not
help. Have not renamed Normal.dot yet. Any help out
there. Trying to avoid reinstalling everything. Although I
have uninstalled and reinstalled Office ~ no help.

I doubt recreating Normal.dot will solve this problem. (Contrary to some of
the advice you may have read in this newsgroup Normal.dot is not the cause
of every problem you encounter in Word. <g>)

And seldom does reinstalling Word ever rectify anything.

My first suspicion is that you have Speech Recognition enabled. Take a look
under the Tools menu to see if this is the case.
