Flat XMl output on .vdx files

Whenever I save a Visio file in .vdx format in Visio 2003,
the xml output in it becomes flat. There are virtually no
line changes, which leads to almost unreadable xml code.
This makes it extremely hard to debug. Is there a way to
get linefeed/carriage returns into .vdx -files?

what kind of xml editor are you using to look at the file???

Ultraedit, version 9.20b, registered. Not a real xml
editor, but has worked fine until now.
I forgot to say that the .vdx files looked fine in any
editor when I was using the Visio 2002, but because of
reasons beyond me, Visio 2003 it is.

I just used the very simple xml editor demo that is available from msdn
download to look at the v2003 vdx file. Wasn't fancy but it worked.
