Focus jumps to beginning of document whenpasting (sometimes) and resizing (always) photos

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel When pasting photos, the focus jumps back to the beginning only if the pasted photo will not fit on the current page. Given that resizing an image always causes the jump, I assume it has something to do with information (text or image) moving from one page to another.

Has anyone had this problem? I'm trying to paste a lot of pictures from one document into another (both over 30 pages), and as you can image, the focus jumping to the very beginning of the document this often is extremely frustrating. Help please!

Well, let me get on your bad side right off :) You have two overriding
problems:

1- Pasting photographs anywhere any time is the worst possible way to deal
with them if you expect to retain any degree of print quality, &
2- Word is not the type of program well suited for a project such as you've
described.

If you must use Word you would do well to create tables & insert the images
into table cells. Controlling the positioning of objects in a word
processing program is a challenge no matter what, but the more objects there
are the more problematic it becomes... especially if the graphics
'outnumber' the text. Keep in mind that all objects in a Word document are
attached to a paragraph as either In Line with Text or as Floating objects
(some form of Text Wrap applied). See the information on this web page as
well as the links at the bottom pertaining to 'the draw layer' & 'floating
graphics':
