folders messy after 2000-2003 upgrade

I wonder if someone can point me in the right direction for help on this?

I have just upgraded from Outlook 2000 to 2003 (I'm using windows 2000)
I'm now faced with empty contacts, tasks calendar folders etc. I do have
other calendar/task/contacts folders which contain my original data carried
over from 2000. (incidentally, I use a palm and sync with my pc at work too
so I had two of each types of folder, one for home and one for work)

What I want to do is get rid of the new, empty folders but keep my original
folders that transferred over. Is it as simple as selecting them and hitting
delete? If so, can I make one of my old folders into the 'main' folder as it
was in 2000?

It would be a whole lot easier if I could make 2003 look/behave the same
while I get to grips with this, too.

Could someone help, please?

OK I got a bit further. I have the old folders all contained within a
personal folder, and nested as they were on 2000.

I still have personal folders I don't want and one of these seems to be the
main personal folder which has the today icon on it.

How can I get rid of the ones I don't need and just leave the one from my
old outlook, with the today icon?

It is impossible to discern what you did to create this problem.
The Help files tell you how to migrate Outlook data. Use that method:

You still need to provide at least some information.
How did you migrate your data in such a way as to end up with two sets of
personal folders?
Which set is your default?
Why can't you just copy your data into your default set of folders and close
the one that it not your default?
