Follow up reminders

In Outlook 2003 when I set a follow up flag for a message with a reminder at
a specific date and time, the reminder does not pop up like tasks or
appointments reminders do. I'd like them to.

Any suggestions. Thanks

What folder are the messages in? The reminders only work in the default
folders in older versions of outlook.
