To expand on to the question answered below, will the macro run even though
the database is closed? Incidentally, we are running into the same issue
and this would solve it.

Use Windows Task Manager, or one of the many third-party scheduling
programmes available today, to run the macro using a command line like
this...
"C:\PathToAccess\Msaccess.exe" "C:\PathToDB\MyDB.mdb" /x macroname
