Followed hyperlink color

I have a presentation that consists of a main slide (first slide) with a
bunch of internal hyperlinks to other slides in the presentation. The
hyperlinks all take me to the correct slide. There is a hyperlink on each
subsequent slide back to the original slide. When I go back to the original
slide the hyperlink had not turned gray, even though it is set to do so in
the theme. If I click the same hyperlink or another on the main slide and
then go back, the previous link is then gray. I need the link to turn gray
the first time I go back to the main slide so that I know which links have
been selected and which have not. Thanks for any help.

How did you create the link?

Todd,

make a 'dummy' slide before your main slide..... set the return hyperlinks
to go back to the dummy slide.

Set the 'dummy' slide to advance automatically after 0 seconds... to that it
goes to your real main slide.

It was created in PPT 03 but we are now running in PPT 07. Didn't have the
problem in the previous version. I just found another post with the same
problem from 7/31/08 by NY Teacher.

Thanks for sending the file, Todd. It does repro here. I wonder if it's a
2003-to-2007 thing.

Try TAJ's workaround. Hopefully it will sort it until there's a real fix.

Thanks to Echo S we have a work around. Simply insert a blank slide or copy
of the main slide into the presentation. Instead of routing back to the
original slide go to the blank or copied slide which has been set up to
automaically transition to the original slide after 0 sec. The process of
going through this "dummy" slide somehow triggers the followed hyperlink to
change colors as it did in the 03 version.

Presentation was originally created in PPT 03. Problem occurs using PPT 07
(no SPs that I know of). Hyperlinks were inserted as text in slide one which
direct to the other slides in the presentation (think Jeopardy type game
board). There is a picture hyperlink embedded in the master slide for all
subsequent slides linking back to the first slide (home slide). You click a
link on the home slide to go to a question slide then click the picture link
to take you back to the home slide.
