Fomat phone and zip code fields

How do I format a field for phone numbers and a field for zip codes with
extensions? I am using a blank database at this point, even though I
downloaded a template that would have worked well if I had known how to
change it to fit my needs. All help appreciated! MW

Hi Molly,

Phone is easy -- use an InputMask

field --> Phone 'PhoneCell, PhoneFax, etc
DataType --> Text
Size --> 14
InputMask --> !(999) 000-0000;0;_

I like to store the symbols (, ), - ... so when I export data they are
there

for zip, I think it is better to store the 1st 5 characters in one field
and the 4-character extension in another (provided everything is stateside)

then, you can concatenate to print...

FullZip: [Zip_field] & ("-" + [ZipExt-field])

& will concatenate a null ok...

+ will only concatenate if what else in in parentheses is NOT null)
