Font appears larger when printing

When I print my presentation the font is printing much larger than it appears
on the print preview or in the normal on screen presentation. I am using
Kristin ITC font. This is a saved presentation which I have used previously
with no problems. I opened up the presentation, changed some words and now
it prints in this grossly enlarged font.

To explain further, the text box remains the same size--same dimentions.
The font within the box swells and word wraps. In the end, the words are so
big that only 1/3 of the text, or so, is visible.

Many printers have built-in fonts to speed up printing. If they don't have
the font used in the presentation, they use a similar one. And as Kristin
is not one of the standard fonts, this is causing problems in your case.

Open the print dialog box. In the top, to the right of your printer name,
is a button "Properties" which lets you access the printer properties.
Somewhere there (where exactly depends on the printer model, so I can't tell
you details) is a setting for TrueType fonts. The standard is to use the
printer's fonts, change this to "Load as soft fonts" or something similar.

Make sure to check this from time to time, as it is no permanent setting.

I suppose this *might* a multiple masters bug that shows up in PPT 2003 and
(maybe?) 2002. If Ute's suggestion doesn't set it straight, then post back
and mention which version of PPT you're using.

Thank you for the suggestion, Ute. I searched the community database for the
answer to this question last night and that suggestion was already mentioned
in an earlier thread. I did go into the properties box but found no such
section for soft fonts or the like.

FYI, my father is having the same problem on his printer but with word
documents. He always types in 12 point font (currier new or TNR) but when he
goes to print it comes out as 30-40 font. really bizarre. i have toggled w/
every setting in the printer and computer properties that seems applicable.

Same printer--HP PSC 1350xi and same operating system XP. Office Suite 2003.

It's funny, Steve. When I moved the text box to the center of the page I
noticed a little box that appeared to the bottom left of that text box. When
I moused over it, it said "autofit". I am not sure what that was all about,
but when i clicked on it, it highlighted the entire text box, i retyped in
"14" into the font size box and then printed. On the screen, nothing
appeared to alter after I did that, but the page finally printed out
correctly.

It was a problem within that text box. When I printed what you said to
print w/ the rectangles, the shapes in the corners of the page stayed where
they were supposed to. The type within the text box swelled up within the
confines of that text box.

As for the Word document, since the whole sheet is essentially a text box,
all of the words get inflated and blown off the page. It is consistent for
every time he opens up the program. Any ideas on that now that the PPT
problem is solved?

To help narrow down the problem, suppose you have a PPT slide with a small
rectangle at each corner of the slide and some text in the middle.

When you print, do you see all of the rectangles at the edges of the printout
and just the text is enlarged, or does everything get blown up to the point
where some of the rectangles disappear from the printout?
