Font indicated incorrectly

Document http://d3351.pochta.ru/Symbol.doc contains two characters. The fist
character belongs to Symbol font, however if you copy these characters and
paste them into a MS Word document both characters will be indicated as those
belonging to Times New Roman font.

Why the Symbol font vharacter is indicated as a Times New Roman one?

When you insert a symbol in text in another font, it is inserted as a
protected field. This used to be more transparent; if you displayed field
codes, you would actually see a SYMBOL field. Now this is more covert, but
it still works the same way. The result is that if you change the text of a
selection to, say, Arial, your Symbol symbol will not be changed to Arial.
