font is unevenly spaced with characters running into one another

In Word 2000 the ARIAL font is corrupt in that the chacters are not evenly
spaced.
If I open the same document in Wordpad the font is OK as it is in Excel. If
I open the document on another computer using word it is OK.
I upgraded to Office 2003 and the font characters are still unevenly spaced.
When I print the font it is unevenly spaced.
I can't shoe an example beciause anyone else viewing the font from anywhere
except my copy of word has no problems.
Anyone have any ideas?

G'Day Satinay,

Excel and Wordpad use the SAME Arial font file that is
used in Word.

That suggests that there is something wrong with Word.

Open a document where this problem is obvious, select
problem text and investigate:
Format>Font
Character Spacing (tab)
Scale: 100%
Spacing: Normal
Position: Normal
kerning....: Unchecked

I checked out the above and all is as it should be.
When I highlight the text and bold it, the text hsd its normal spacing. When
I remove the bolding the text goes back to uneven spacing.
