Font IssueCopying Browser Text into Word

S

Su-Z-Q

OS 10.4x with Word v.X and Camino Browser.
I use Arial in my company documents and I have my browser set to always use
Arial. But when I copy text from the browser into my Word document, it always
comes in as Lucida Grande.
Is there a fix or setting that will make the copied text paste into Word as
Arial?

I'm not familiar with Camino but generally browsers can only change how they
display content, they can't change the actual formatting of what is there.

Try using Edit> Paste Special> Unformatted Text.

When you paste, the incoming text should adopt the formatting of the style
in use in the destination.

Some browsers place formatted text on the clipboard. When you paste this,
Word should ask if you want to "Keep source formatting" or "Match
destination".

Sadly, "Keep source formatting" is the default, because the person who set
it did not use Word for serious documents and did not understand the
problem. She does now: I explained it. There wasn't much blood: we were
able to wipe it up with a single roll of paper towels...

Check in Word>Preferences>Edit>... That you have "Show Paste Options
buttons" checked under "Cut and paste options". Sadly, that means Word will
prompt you on every paste, which is even more irritating. To my mind, the
cure is much worse than the disease. Again, this whole mechanism was coded
by people who don't use Word for anything in which the formatting matters
:)

Bob's cure: Paste Special Unformatted, is the one I use. Sadly, in Word
2008 they removed the ability to set it as the default. Next version...

Cheers
