Font issues in the word formatting pallette

T

tobyheslop

I'm running OS 10.4.11 and Word 2004 11.3.8.

I have had the problem with the optimizing fonts happen, but now it doesn't do it

But when i look at the list of fonts in the formating pallette the fonts are doubled up over each other and i can't tell which font i am choosing.

I have run a repair permissions, tried a reinstall, trashed the font cache, checked for currupt fonts....

all with no luck of a fix!

anyone else have any ideas on a fix?

On a Mac, re-installing usually makes things worse :) the parts of the
application that get damaged are user-created preference files. They are
not on the disk, so they can't be re-installed. And when you re-install,
the preference files are not replaced, and often end up even more
out-of-synch with the application.

Your description of the problem indicates that your Office Font Cache has
gone south.

Work your way through these. There is no need to go back to OS 10.3.9 :)

I think your problem will be resolved if you first Remove Duplicate Fonts,
then Delete the System and User Font Caches, then reboot.

Hope this helps
