Font problem with Word

I can't change font in Word. If I try change font from default times
new roman to another. Immediately is switched again to times new roman.
Any ideas how to solve this problem?

What version of Word and OS?

Are you perhaps typing in a central European language, or with a central
European keyboard layout, such that the bug in this previous thread might
apply?
