Font selection disppears on each new document

I am encountering for the first time in years a strange but annoying
phenomenon. The font color is always blank and must each time be reset to
black automatic. I can set it to different fonts, different colors and hit
OK, but the next time a document needs to be reset and the typing becomes
"invisible".

This is with windows XP Pro and MSOffice 2003.

Any comments or ideas?

Try this:

Type in text
Change to black
Right click the text box
select Set Autoshape Defaults

Hi John"

Typing text and then changing to Black shows the typed text.
I am not sure where the "text box" is that allows to change to the Autoshape
Default.

When you click on the text a box should appear around it. Right click on this
to get the menu and choose set autoshape default

I thought I had the dumb Font problem fixed and it is partially, indeed.
The font color is now there.

But regardless of what font I choose, and enter OK, when I do the next
document it reverts back to Arial, not what I choose as my preferred font.

Any ideas?

Never had this happen in 10 years of computer work.

I tried everything and nothing seemed to work.

So, my final solution that did work was this:

Uninstall MS Office 2003 completely via Control Panel.

Then delete all reference to MS OFFICE in the registry and finally install
all of OFFICE 2003 Pro again. It automatically found my backed up PST file
and all my addresses, folders and thousands of messages are again there, all
perfectly clear to read this time.

Problem solved.
