Font size on menus for MS products

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have high resolution monitors, but all of the menu items on my MS applications (and firefox) are too small to read. The change-font function in preferences only changes the font within the working fields -- but not in drop-down menus and menu-bar items.

Is there a way I can increase font size WITHIN menu bars and drop-downs?

As far as I know, these are system controlled. I'm sure there is some way to
hack it, but I don't know how.
