Font style keeps changing when clicking on the Copies per Sheet to

D

DJ Andre

In MS Publisher 2003 my font/color style keeps changing on my business card
layout when I change the option: "Copies per Sheet" tool from "One" to
"Multiple". I also lose the font/color style when I open the business card
file from "My Recent Documents" from the Start Menu in XP Home.

Here I have attached two screenshot pictures that illustrate my problem.
The picture named "Good" indicates that it is in "Multiple: mode and my
colors and font style are perfect. And the picture named "Bad" indicates
that as soon as I change it to "One" mode, it changes my font/color style.
And when I click back to "Multiple" it still remains the same way as the
"Bad" picture. Please tell if if there is a way to fix this so it stays
locked?

Have you tried printing it on palin paper to see if it prints differently?
The difference seem nominal but I fully understand that you want what you
want. To me it looks like the difference is that the multiple one is a
slightly larger scale so the font looks a tad bit thicker/bigger. Could be a
"tropical illiusion".

Palin paper? Do you mean "plain" paper?

Yes, I did print it to plain paper and the font and color had changed.
This is how I first noticed it. And kept going back to see why my preferred
font/color kept changing, until I discovered that everytime I change the
print "mode" it kept chaning it for some odd reason.

I then tried to create a different business card, layout plus color and
font. I click on a different "print" mode. And it happens all over again.

Could this be a bug? Or is there something I am not doing correctly when I
save my business card to my HD?

Have you tried to create the card from scratch? In page setup, select business card.
Copy your card and paste it to a new publication. It could be a bug in the wizard.

If I start from scratch using a "blank business" card. I then get into
problems having to copy my business cards to my printer using Avery 8871.
Because I still don't know how to set it up so I can pick the Avery 8871
paper for my copies. The wizard seems to do this by default. But with doing
it from scratch, it doesn't. Please help.

In page setup, business card, click "change copies per sheet", set side margin .75,
top margin .5, both gaps set at zero. This gives you 10 cards per sheet, you will
have one card on your screen. Open the publication you created earlier, select all,
copy and paste to the new publication.

Mary, actually there is an easier method.

File>Page Setup>Layout Tab/Publication Type>Label>scroll Page Size and find
Avery 8871-Business Card>OK

I found it by exploring what each Publication type did while paying
attention the the Page size box on the right.

I'd still like to know if you can confirm my bug I found in Publisher 2003?
Thanks.

DJ,

I didn't find that in Publisher 2002.. There are no 8871-business card

just in Publisher 2003?

No, the Avery 8871 is a standard 2" x 3½" card, 10 on a sheet. Nothing
special there.
