Font submenus?

Is there a way to get the Font menu to be organized by font families?

Currently the Font menu is a mess. Looks like this (partial list):

Arial Rounded MT Bold
B Frutiger Bold
B Futura Bold
Bank Gothic Light BT
Baskerville
Berkely
Berkeley Book
Berkeley Italic
BI Frutiger BoldItalic
BI Futura BoldItalic

Sure would be nice to have this:

Arial Rounded MT Bold
Bank Gothic Light BT
Baskerville
Berkeley >
Book
Italic
Frutiger >
Bold
Italic
Futura >
Bold
Italic

Any help would be appreciated.

No :)

Our suggestion is "Don't use it!"

Set up Styles to apply the fonts you want to use, then you will never have
to look at the thing again.

Or you can make a new Toolbar of your own, onto which you can drag your
favourite fonts, named and grouped as you please. That's a lot of work...

Cheers

Thanks for the info, John.

I do, btw, use styles quite a bit.

But I'm a copyeditor with a hand in some design aspects of my employer (a publisher) -- no, I'm not a designer, which is why I'm discussing this on a Word forum -- and so my fonts change daily; at times, even hourly.

So I have to look at the fsrking Font menu.

pffftttt

A unified font menu is a new feature in Word 2008 - it's got exactly what you said you wanted.
