fonts are in the font directory but not in office

Everything used to work fine, but now if I copy a new font into the font
directory none of the office programs can see it.

I have windows XP pro and student and teacher edition 2003.

Thank you for your suggestion Rob, but I don't get that choice on the File
menu when I go to the Fonts folder either directly or through appearance and
themes.

What's going on? :(

Hmmm. I'm not sure, maybe you have to log in as an Admin.
Sorry, I've never seen that problem and I'm using XP Pro and STE2003 as
well.

Thank you Alan! You've made my day. Followed your advice and eventually fixed
the problem with the TweakUI idea. Brilliant!
