Fonts gone from Word and Wordpad after update

After installing all the latest updates (13 May) to Win98
and Office XP, Word and Wordpad can no longer find any
fonts. This problem is highly localized; other apps have
no problems.

I've re-installed from the CD (theoretically negating the
SP3 update)--still no fonts. I replaced the winword
executable with an old one (Aug'02)--still no fonts.

I'd love some suggestions (other than upgrading to Win XP--
this box won't run it).

Thanks Suzanne,

That was precisely the problem. I had "Generic/Text Only"
picked as the default. When I changed it to "Acrobat
PDFWriter" Word could see all my fonts again.
