Fonts missing in Office2003

Bev

I was notified by some of my users that some 'standard' fonts are missing
from our installation of Office2003 Professional. Included in those missing
are Berlin Sans, Eras, Gill Sans, Curlz, and Chiller. We have a standardized
version of our install, modified by an .mst file. We cache our files
locally. I don't see anywhere that I would have set something preventing all
the standard fonts from being installed. Is there something special I need
to do to have all fonts installed within the standard installation? Are we
missing a .cab file somewhere? I would appreciate any ideas.

I think all of the mentioned fonts are from the Corel WordPerfect
Office Suite.

I believe and some one can correct me that you would need the Office Language pack installed to get all those listed fonts

That might be the case, I don't know.

What I do know is my office had an issue with Arial Narrow not being
installed with Office 2000, even though the MS typography site listed it as
being installed with Office 2000.

What I finally found out -- well, another MVP actually figured it out for me
by looking in the CAB files or something -- was that Arial Narrow was
installed with one of the extra PowerPoint sample presentations. Not
realizing this (I mean, why would we?) we'd elected not to install the extra
presentation designs** because nobody ever used them.

So I wonder if installing all templates (and don't forget "presentation
designs" ! ) would help in this case?

**I _think_ these were called Presentation Designs -- they're the PPT files
that have sample content in them. You know, "breaking bad news," stuff like
that.

Hi Bev,

When setting up Office 2003 there is an additional fonts
option under the Office Shared Features section.
Did you include that in your MST settings? If not,
you should be able to add it with a Custom Maintenance
Wizard (CMW) run.

Actually, the Microsoft web site lists all those fonts as being installed
with Office Professional.

don't know how to get them to install! >>

Thanks very much! I'm guessing that was the problem, since we did not
include the "Additional TrueType Fonts" on our install. I appreciate the
help!

I also appreciate the ideas from others. All were very insightful.

At my company, Office 2003 is installed through a software called "Radia".
Since it is not possible to modify the install settings...

I work as a deskside assistant.
Would it be against the EULA if I were to copy Gill Sans from a machine that
has it, to a machine that doesn't, as long as Office 2003 is installed?

I just need to be clear if it would be an acceptable solution or not, so I
would like a Microsoft rep to reply if possible.
