Fonts suddenly turn to gibberish

Lee A. McCoy

Hello List,

My daughter was typing a paper and while she was scrolling through it, one
passage turned to gibberish as follows (except in Word, the lines do not
appear--more gibberish text appears instead). ANy ideas what might cause
this?

TIA.

Is any of the text you show here part of the original document? Or did it
come "out of thin air"?

I hope you didn't save over the original document, but to a new name? And if
you open the original document?

Which version of Word is involved?

Is a network involved, at all?

My inclination is to say that, if the text was part of the original document
(or of another document anyone using the machine once worked on), that we're
dealing with some kind of document corruption. Perhaps caused by a glitch in
the hardware.

Or, it's a virus.
