how do you reset windows xp to have only the original fontset that it was
issued with??

(I am having issues with a game and they say I need to be below 250 fonts)

Not an Office question. Suggest if you do not like the following or need
more information you post to a Windows XP newsgroup.

You reduce the number of fonts by deleting them or using a font manager
{Google for one}. Someone in a Windows XP can tell you what font are
required by Windows XP. IMO, does not matter.

I suspect the person you told you that you need less than 250 fonts is
giving you obsolete or perhaps bad information.

In older versions of Windows, too many fonts could cause problems. However,
recall that the number of fonts required for problems to develop was greater
than 250.

Windows XP handles fonts differently that prior versions of Windows so the
number of installed fonts does not matter {except for disk space used if you
have a very small hard drive}. If you are having problems with an older game
not designed for Windows XP, suggest you consider using a compatibility
mode.
