Hi, I'm running Win Xp and I've got Office 2003 (newly installed) I'm not
sure if any of you can help with my question, but here's to hoping, eh? I
like downloading fonts for various projects and whatnot. Prior to a recent
entire system overhaul, I had upwards of 200 fonts. Well, needless to say,
not even I with my love needed that many, so I've got the list down to 22.
What I'm wondering is whether it's possible to install fonts but not have
them affect additional desktops (like have the fonts installed only on my
desktop). My family hates having to scroll through a lot of fonts to find the
basics like Arial or Times New Roman. Any help you could provide would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know the answer to your question. It's really a Windows XP question,
not an Office question, so you may want to post in one of the WinXP groups.
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx is
an alpha list of the groups on the web-based Microsoft groups interface.

That said, you might consider using a font manager. That way you can
activate the fonts when you want to use them and leave them deactivated when
you or your family memebers don't want to wade through them.
