Just curious, Have you ever had any luck actually finding a *free* font at
any of those sites? The vast majority of the links on those sites take you
to pages where you can *purchase* the font. I once went through several
pages of the search results from Google only to find that after a few
clicks I inevitably end up at the same page or two trying to sell me a
font.

As a middle-backend tier code monkey, pretty much the only font I ever use
is Lucida Console. I have never actually tried to acquire "free fonts".

Plus, I'm not crazy about installing anything binary on my box that I
downloaded for free from some random unknown place that appeared in a google
search :)
