Footer alignment

Ray

I would like to put the file name left justified and Page x of y right
justified. Can someone advise how to accomplish it.

Thanks,

Ray

Ray,
When in the header and footer pane (View - header and footer), click on the
insert autotext button, choose filename or filename and path. Now press the
tab key twice that will bring your cursor flush with the right margin, again
click on the autotext button and choose page x of y. Close the header and
footer. That's it.

Luc,

Thanks for your advice. It works but not correctly. The first tab adds a
center tab at 3" on the ruler and second tab adds a right mark at 6" on the
ruler. My right margin is 6.25". Is there any step I made incorrectly?

Thanks,

Ray

Nothing you did wrong. Word sets up those tabs for you by default, but they
are calibrated for Word's default of 1.25 in margins on each side, and yours
are different. You can grab the little black arrows on the ruler and drag
them to where you want, for a one-time solution.

If you want those tabs moved for all documents, you will need to modify the
Footer style and add that modification to the template, as that's where they
come from.
