Footnote and the ruler

Have you noticed that the ruler is no longer available in the footnotes pane
in WordXP? Can someone tell me if this is documented somewhere?

I don't know if it is documented but I can verify the ruler is no
longer available when in Normal View and the View/Footnotes pane has
been turned on.

However if you are in Print Layout view and use View/Footnotes the
footnote area is placed at the top of your screen just below the
ruler. Will that help?
