footnote numbering

I have document with footnotes that was created in Word using the insert
menu. I have deleted one of the footnotes in the middle of the document, but
the subsequent numbers have not updated.
What do I do?

I was also tracking changes. I accepted the changes and the footnote
numbering updated.
