Footnotes turning into Roman numerals

R

Richard Cavell

Hi,

I save a file on Word for Mac that has footnotes in it, in ordinary
numerals.

I then load it on my PC using WordViewer and it converts all the
footnotes to Roman numerals (e.g. 25 -> 'xxv'). I can't get them back.

This happens whether I use Word format, RTF format, or even PDF, which
makes me think that it's Word for Mac that's causing the trouble.

I need to print from my PC. How do I get the file across untouched?

PDF? Are you sure? really really sure? How did you make the PDF? What
did you use to view the PDF on the PC?
I have pushed footnote laden files from Mac to PC and back again across
many versions of Word on each, and I have never seen that happen
without the recipient first redefining the number layout.

Leaving aside the PDF, the more logical conclusion is that it is the
one common element in all your atempts to avoid roman numerals.
