Force starting value for X axis?

B

Barkomatic

I have a simple worksheet with only two columns like this:

A B
1970 125
1971 136
1972 200
1973 184

I've want to create a line chart where the values in column A are
shown in the X axis and the values in column B are plotted on the
chart.

My first attempt to do this shows the plotting ok, but the X axis
starts at 1, so my guess is that Excel is not considering the actual
value in column A. Since there are no missing years, is there a way
to just force the X axis tick mark labels to start at 1970? Or is
there a better way to do this chart?

works fine for me -- make sure your selected range does not include a bunch
of blanks as the chart will pick that up as zero and therefore set the x axis
to start there. -- You can also right click on the x axis and select format
axis and then set your ranges in the scale tab.
