I'm using form fields to insert checkboxes. The checkbox image automatically used is fairly plain. Is there any way to use a different image/your own image for the checkbox?

"Any way"? You mean short of writing your own program? I'm afraid not. The
checkbox form fields aren't "images" they're controls programmatically
designed into the software.
