Format Gant Bar problem

TomH

Hi
Tried to format Gant Bar based on your description with custimize a flag
field with a formula and create a new bar in the bar styles dialog.
It doesnt work.
The formula works for the resourse "Bygg", cause the flag is set to "Ja"
("Ja" means "Yes" in english).
The problem is that when I add "Bygg" to a task, the format doesnt change.

Any ideas of what I do wrong here?

What exactly is the formula? Contains or Equals?
Didn't the poster warn you that it is more difficult when you have more than
one resource to a task?
Note: If your Ja is Dutch you can also post in
microsoft.public.nl.office.project (I have the Dutch version running so we
can avoid misunderstandings)

Hope this helps,

The formula is IIf(InStr([Navn];"Bygg")>0;True;False).
I dont want more than 1 resource for these task.
The MP version is Norwegian (Project 2003).
Was it to any help.

Hi,

Did you add Bygg to the task name or to the Resource Names? You say you "add
Bygg to the task" but that can mean in any field. If it is not in the Name
(I suppose Navn is Norvegian for Name) the formula will not recognize it.
You have to refer to the field that contains the word Bygg.
Hope this helps,

Sir, it shold have ben written "add the resource Bygg to a task".

to clearyfie a little, I simply did these steps:
1. Create a new flag 1 in the Gant chart wiev, task based
2. Made a formula like - IIf(InStr([Name of resource];"Bygg")>0;True;False)
3. Create a resource named "Bygg"
4. Create a new gant bar with different colour from normal, under "show for
task" i set normal and flag 1
5. Under from i set start, under to i set finish

When i now make a new task and insert the resource "Bygg" to that task, the
flag is set to "Ja" (or yes in english), but the gant bar dont change.
Could it be a problem that the flag said "Ja" instead of "Yes"?
Tried to change the flag to yes and no, but this field wouldnt accept the
change.

Is this giving you a clue of whats going on?

Hi All,

To those who followed this thread:

Tom's problem was that he had inserted the "Bygg" Bar (red) at the top of
his bar styles; it was shown for Normal;Flag1 tasks.
His second bar however (blue) was shown for all Normal tasks.
And since Bar styles are executed top to bottom, his second bar superseded
the red one and he never saw a red Bygg bar;
Cutting and Pasting the Bygg bar at the end of the list solved the mystery.

Greetings,
