format numbers as mm:ss

moishie

hey folks.

i have a list of tracks formatted in a table in Word - a simple column of
track name, and then the length in mm:ss (example: 9:58 -> 9 minutes, 58
seconds)
I am copying into Excel.
but Excel understands this as a time format - so it displays (and converts
per the various cell formats) as : 9 hours, 58 minutes and 0 seconds.

is there a way to rectify this?

Thanks Muchly!

In an empty cell enter 60 and copy it then highlight the cell with the time
and Paste Special > Divide and re-format the cell as hh:mm:ss
