Format of PST

Steve Freides

My PST says it's in "Outlook 1997-2002" format, probably because I
upgraded from 2002 to 2003. Is there a newer format, and is there any
benefit to be had by upgrading my file format to the newer format and,
if so, how do I do this?

TIA.

The newer format allows you to exceed the 2 GB limit on size. If that's not
a big deal to you, there's no real reason to change. If you do change,
remember that you'll lose backward compatibility of the file.

If I wish to change, how do I do that? Everything here is now 2003 so
backward compatibility is not an issue.

Just create a new PST and copy the contents of your old PST into it.
Note that I said copy. Do not for one second think of importing.
After that, set the new one as the default and close the old one.
