Format painter v pick tool

Does anyone use the pick tools often? [Tools, Customize, commands, format,
"pick up object style" / "apply to defaults"]

How does the pick tool differ from the format painter?
When would I use one rather than the other?
Does anyone have the two pick tools on their tool bar?

I have both on my toolbars.

The eyedropper-picks hold the default style until you change it. You can use
the "apply" one at any time to apply formatting to an object.

With the Format Painter, you have to go find an object styled the way you
want, double-click it, then go and find the object you want to apply the
formatting to. (Double-clicking makes the painter "sticky" until you click
it again or hit Esc on your keyboard.)

I find each useful at different times.
