Hi Confused,
I have inserted a picture, select Format Picture > Layout
but all the options (like square, tight etc are grayed
out). Any ideas?
1. Which version of Word?
2. Did you insert the picture into regular text? Into a
table? Into a frame? Into a textbox?
3. Anything else "unusual" you can tell us about?
4. Does this happen only in the one document, or also in a
new one, with nothing else in it?
5. What commands did you use to insert the picture, and what
kind of picture is it (gif, jpg, tif, etc.)?

I'm having the same problem using Word 2011 on a Mac OSX10.7.3 (Lion). I'm using a document which is a brochure of landscape-layout pages with 2 columns each. The text all appears in text boxes, and I was able to insert and align images on top of this text last year in an older version of Word (on an older computer).

Now opening the same file, using even the same images, many of the format picture options are now grayed out and unclickable. I can no longer select ANY of the text-wrapping options, (it's defaulted to "In Line with Text"), everything else is grayed out and unclickable.

Does Word 2011 have some image-locking function? If so, how do I unlock my images so I can manage/format/align them like I used to be able to?
