Formating Text

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I notice when I format text it applies to the whole paragraph. In the past I could hilight the text I wanted to format.

Just the paragraph, or the entire document?

If just the paragraph--what type of format are you applying?

Go to Format>Style, make sure Normal is highlighted in the list on the left,
then click on the Modify button. Uncheck "Automatically Update", hit OK,
then Apply, and you should now be back in your document, with the problem
gone.
