Formatting computer: how do I backup office without installation .

I'm using the Dell PC Restore utility to return my computer to its default
factory settings, which doesn't include MS Office 2003. I no longer have the
installation disk; is there a way I can backup Office reinstall it on the
same machine, or do I have to purchase the software again?

Adam,
Unfortunately, there is no easy solution if you do not have the program disc
with the installation program for Office 2003. Do you really need to restore
your computer to the original factory settings? Perhaps you don't need to do
a complete restore, maybe 'detect and repair' option or just do a Windows
reinstall which will give you the option of keeping all of the currently
installed programs. The reinstall will repair or replace any defective files.

Another route you may want to investigate: Look for a "mirror-image" program
to backup your programs and files. Programs like these will do a complete
snapshot or mirror of your current system and put it on backup discs or a
partition on your hard drive. With the utilities provided, you may be able
to preserve your Office 2003 program and files. One such example of a
program is: R-Drive Image

Good luck,
Michelob

Thank you all so much for your help. Conveniently enough, I was able to get a
hold of the original software; I had used my friend's software (since you can
install it on 3 different computers), and they'd moved far from where I live.
Lucky for me, their roomate still had it hanging around his place and I was
able to pick it back up.

Sorry to waste you guys' time! But thanks again. =D
