Formatting Fractions

Hello. Working with Word v.X and need help with formatting fractions. When
entering fractions they are on the same level, like 1/4 - the 1 does not go
up and the 4 does not go down. When opening Word for Windows docs
these items are shown simply as an _ (underline).

I don't see a menu option or setting that directs the behavior nor does Help
address fractions.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Get Word2004. Word v.X does not display all Unicode characters.
