Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC I can't figure out how to set the alignment (left, center, right) for what I enter in a custom Header box. In 2004, the Left, Right, Center alignment bars in the formatting bar used to be available so you could place the Text in the box as you wanted, now they are gray'd out. Using the Customize Text only changes the text, not the alignment in the cell?

I can't figure out how to set the alignment (left, center, right) for what I
enter in a custom Header box. In 2004, the Left, Right, Center alignment
bars in the formatting bar used to be available so you could place the Text
in the box as you wanted, now they are gray'd out. Using the Customize Text
only changes the text, not the alignment in the cell?

I'm not sure what you're referring to with XL04 - when I enter a header
in page layout view, or using View/Headers and Footers/Customize Heaer,
all controls, including the Left, Right, and Center alignment controls,
are greyed out.

AFAIK, it's always been this way - text in the left header box is
left-aligned, text in the center header box is centered, and text in the
right header box is right-aligned.

You can use the alignment codes &l, &c and &r before the text to
designate which box the text should go into, but it doesn't affect
alignment within the box.
