Formatting in Excel

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel When I try to format a cell or group of cells, by hitting command+1 or right clicking on format, nothing happens. No new drop down occurs, nor window opens. So, there's no way to access features such as "center across selection."

Since we have nothing more than what you've disclosed the first steps to
take are:

Confirm that Office is fully updated (12.2.4),
Confirm that OS X is fully updated (10.6.2),
That you've recently repaired disk permissions, &
That you've restarted your Mac.

If the problem persists, what happens if you select Format> Cells rather
than trying to take one of the shortcuts?

If still no success, Quit all Office apps then go to:

User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008

Delete the file: Excel Toolbars (12), then empty the Trash.

See if things improve.
