Formatting inserted text into email message

I'm trying to insert a text file (frequently used) into emails and insure
that the text matches the format of the email message. This was the default
in Outlook 2003, but I'm using 2007, and it doesn't seem to detect the
"destination" format. Any suggestions?

While in the new message window, click the Office button, then the Editor
Options button, then the Advanced section. Your options are under Cut, Copy
and Paste.

Do you have "Show paste options buttons" checked in Tools | Options | Other
tab | Advanced Options?

Yes, I do.

This is a longshot, but try clearing your forms cache -- perhaps there is a
problem with the mail form. Search for a file called FRMCACHE.DAT and while
Outlook is closed, rename it -- Outlook will create a new one next time it
opens. The file is probably inside a hidden Windows folder so make sure when
you do the search you specify that you want to search inside hidden folders.

Thanks for keeping with me on this. I tried your suggestion, and it did not
change anything. Just so we're both on the same page, what I'm trying to do
is this:

I keep a number of text files in a folder for use in emails that I send with
great frequency. I open a new message window, click in the body of the email
where I want to paste the text, I then select which text file I wish to use
and insert it as text . In Outlook 2003, that would do the trick. In 2007,
it inserts as unformatted text, in spite of setting the preferences to "match
destination formatting." Do you have any other suggestions?

What about if you click the Paste button on the ribbon (Message tab) and
click Paste Special? What options do you get? Do any of them work?

I am really not sure what could be causing this, but we'll keep working on it.

When I paste into the message, it does assume the proper formatting. This,
however, does not help my situation. With prior versions of Outlook, I could
accomplish this with simply inserting a text file, which requires far fewer
steps. Thanks for your help, but is there any indication that this capacity
has been lost?

Is it really that many more steps to cut and paste rather than insert a text
file into a message body? (Really, I haven't counted, so I'm asking, not
being sarcastic.) You may want to try the Quick Parts and Building Blocks
functions in Outlook 2007 to replace your text files...if you format the text
as you like before you save it as a building block or text file, it will
retain that formatting when you insert it later. Of course, that assumes you
are not changing the formatting of your message bodies frequently...
