Formatting marks???

In the contemporary letter template as well as others,
there are square, non-printing, formatting marks (look
like square bullets) in the left hand margarin of the
page adjacent to the closing, signature and job title
paragraphs. What are these????? What do they indicate or
do??????

Small square bullet in the margin next to a paragraph indicates that the
paragraph is formatted with the Keep with next, Keep lines together, Page
break before, or Suppress line numbers property

Click the bullet to display the Line and Page Breaks tab of the Paragraph
dialog box (Format menu) where these properties are set for the paragraph
containing the insertion point

Click the ? in the upper right corner of the dialog box and then click the
description of any property for an explanation of what that property means

These are either "Keep with next" or "Keep lines
together" formatting that will keep those lines from
splitting across two pages.
