Formatting Palette no longer available in view menu

Hello,

My formatting palette seems to have disappeared, not just off screen (enough
topics on that), but completely in Word. In 'view' I can no longer click on
show formatting palette. Trying to customize my toolbars, I found out that
the button for showing the Formatting Palette also has gone. No problems with
Excel, there he is still up and running.

I hope someone can help me? And can read through my poor English grammar...
;-)

thanks!

You may have hit Word's worst built-in keyboard shortcut by accident
ctrl-5
It changes your menus to be compatible with ancient Word 5.1
Hit it again to see if things improve.

If that does not help:-
Have you tried the 'reset' menu item in View » Toolbars » Customize
Menus/Toolbars » (Toolbars tab) ?
If that is missing too, there is another in Tools » Customize

If it was ctrl-5, I strongly suggest a visit to tools » customize
keyboard. Find the word5menus command and delete the shortcut.
