Formatting the SUmmary RollUp

Can someone tell me how to format the sumamry roll-up? I need to
replace the std black line with a line reflecting the colours of
various subtasks. So, if I have these tasks represented by the
following colours...

Rqts...Red
Design...Blue
Build...Green
Test...Yellow

I would want a committee to be able to look at a one line entry in the
project file and see how long each phase lasted. So, in text (!)

Red-------Blue------------Green-------------Yellow---

The key thing is this needs to be in one line as I do not want the
summary tasks expanded, but I do want the duration of each task to be
shown.

I can send a screenshot if that helps anyone.

Simon,
I played around a little bit and came up with one scheme, there may be
others. To implement the scheme I used, do the following:
1. Assign all tasks in each of the four color groups to a Flag field
(i.e. Flag1 = Red tasks, Flag2 = Blue tasks, etc.)
2. Go to Format/Barstyles
3. In the Appearance column set up a separate color bar for each phase
4. In the Show For...Tasks column select "Rolled up, FlagX" to map the
appropriate task types to the desired color
5. You may also want to "clear" the barstyle for Summary and Project
Summary by setting the Bar Start, Middle & End to nothing
6. Now set each task for Rollup to Summary. You can do this through the
Task Information window or, temporarily insert a column for the Rollup
field and set each task that way.

This should at least get you started in the right direction.

Simon,
I'm glad you found a solution, however your original post indicated you
wanted separate colors for each type of subtask at the summary line. I
see nothing in the Microsoft assistance information to address that.
