I have a user running Word 2000 and who prints to an HP4ML printer. When
she prints, some of the letters print on themselves. I've tried a couple of
driver changes (PS) and they didn't help. I'm trying to get a PCL driver,
but have been unsuccessful. Is this a driver or Word problem?

Almost certainly driver. This usually happens when the text is justified.
You should be able to download new HPPCL drivers from the HP support site.
