Hi,

I'm trying to type a typical multiple choice question in Word 2007. I type
my question after hitting the number list icon. After I write the question,
I hit enter and go to the next line which turns into the number 2. In the
past, I would hit the tab button and it would turn into the letter A--which
is what I want. In 2007, the cursor just moves over. How can I set this to
do what I would like? I had no problem at all doing this in 2003 Word.
Frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

It works for me?

Check Word Options > Proofing > Autocorrect Options > Autoformat as you
type - that you have 'Automatic Numbered Lists' and 'Format Beginning of
List Item like the one before it' checked.

And click on Office button | Word Options | Proofing | AutoCorrect
Options | AutoFormat As You Type tab | check the "Set left- and
first-indent with tabs and backspaces" box.
