Kudos to the person who knows if there Is there a way that I can apply a
border to all pages in a workbook without manually going in and applying the
border to the cells of each page???

Thanks

Do the following. Hold down CTRL and click with the muse the tab of each
sheet you want the foramt applied to. This will GROUP your sheets. Now format
your worksheet and whatever you do tot hat worksheet will be applied to all.
To UNGROUP the sheets when you have finished, right click and worksheet tab
and select <Ungroup>.

Any problems, please write back.

Do the following. In Excel, hold down CTRL and click every tab of the
worksheets you want to have the same formatting. This will GROUP your sheets.
Then apply the formatting you want to your spreadsheet and this will appear
on all other sheets in the GROUP. When you have finished, right-click any
worksheet tab and select <Ungroup>.

Any problems, write back.

Thanks for the quick response alex. There is no other way to do it? I guess
I am looking for something similar to the command that allows you to
highlight a row of column headings to have them repeated at the top of each
printed sheet. Nothing is available where I can say, "When these sheets are
printed, I want the following border to be applied to them???"

I am not quite following what you want to do. You want to print off sheets
of size A4 and, by default, you want a cetain border applied each time?

And how is each different? If the column headings are the same each time as
well as the border, why not just make a template?

If you give more details maybe I can assist further?

Alex:

Thanks for the response. That is exactly what I want. I want to print off
8.5"X11" sheets with the same border applied to enclose my data that is
sorted into columns. It sounds like a template would do that for me. How
would I go about setting up a template in excel that would do that for me?

Try the following.

Format your Excel sheet how you would like it to appear i.e. format it with
borders etc.

Now go to <File><Save As> and in the <Save As Type...> box select
<Template>. Give the file a name also.

Now close down Excel and relaunch a blank workbook. Select <File><New>. In
the dialog box that appears on the right hand side of the screen select
<General Template>. Here you should find the template you saved. Just open it
up and you can add your recent data to the sheet (which is formatted as you
like it) and then print it off.

Is this any better?

Is what you want the feature that Word calls a Page Border? That isn't built
into Excel. Help says to get that effect you do what you are doing now, select
the cells and apply a border to them.

If you have a graphics program, create a graphic that consists of a rectangle
with a colored border and transparent interior. Insert that as a picture in
the header or footer. I played arount with that a bit now, and it was
frustrating. I saved the 7.6 x 10.1 graphic with a 3 pt border just inside the
edges, in TIFF format, preserving transparency. I couldn't get all four sides
to print. Probably has to do with my margin settings and the size of the
graphic.

I wonder if the easiest route would be to set up a document in Word with the
border you want and no text, print several sheets with just that border, then
put the paper back in the printer and print your Excel sheet.
