Hi,
This is my second thread and I'm still new to MS Access.
Here's my problems.
Question 1:
I'm trying to create a form (titled CASE MANAGEMENT) from two tables (table1
is ASI and table 2 is Care Plan which are linked). Table 2 has the primary
key (ID Number-"AutoNumber). I made a realationship between table 1 and
table 2. I first linked the primary key from table 2 to table 1. When I
made the tables I duplicated the basic information on both tables that I
would want to have a relationship with. In the relationship setup I made it
so the primary table was table2 with linked information from table 1.
The basic information (mentioned above) is my problem. I need to obtain the
information from table 1 for S.S.#, First and Last Name, Room Number, Team,
Level, D.O.B.,Gender, Date of Admission, Date of Interview and 18 other
items for various catagories so it will be displayed in the form I construct
with the balance of the forms data from table 2. (F.Y.I. - 1. The balance of
the information from each of the tables is totally unrelated. 2. I can't put
the info from table 2 into table 1 because table 1 is maxed out and if I try
to put the info from table 1 that I need into table 2 I will run into the
same problem).
I made the "specific" reltionships with all the above info. When I go to
create the form my Assistant tells me it can't make the form. I can't figure
out where the conflict is that won't allow the creation of the form.
Here's what I have tried so far. Attempt 1: I made a form from table 2 and
put a subform of table1 (of which I made a query with the just the personal
stuff mentioned above but left out the 18 items) in it but it didn't link and
didn't work also because I need the "ALL" of the relationship info from table
1; Attempt 2: I changed the primary key to table 1 and deleted the primary
key from table 2 - uh, it didn't work?!?!; Attempt 3: I sought Divine
intervention and prayer - no one is listening. Attempt 200: Tried attempt 1
and 2 198 times.
I could just make two forms from each table and enter the info as needed
however, those 18 items mentioned are "comment" boxes that have a lot a
verbage entered in them (this could lead to development of Carpal Tunnel).
Any subform I make would (and has been) HUGE and not practical for Report
production. I know the solution is simple but I've tried so many approaches
I can't see the forest for the trees. And, well, I am new to MS Access.
Appreciate any help at all I can get on this. By the way, Thanks to Douglas
for helping me out with my Survey question it really helped.
Sincerely,
