forms & subforms

Form 1 has subforms 1a & 1b. 1a displays data; 1b is an
input field.

I would like to have the defaults in 1b be what is
displayed in 1a, but still be able to edit. (Yes, I want
to retain both subforms.) My expression to populate field
1-1b in form 1b with field1 in form 1a:

Forms![frm1]![frm1a].Form![field1-1a]

Can anyone see an error? Other ideas?
